We are very proud to invite you to participate in our project: Puebla: mural city!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Puebla: Ciudad Mural is a project by Colectivo Tomate. We started painting murals in 2010 in the neighborhood of Xanenetla, in the city of Puebla, Mexico. Our goal has been to rescue Mexican muralist heritage and use it as a tool to make the facades of this historical part of the city more beautiful and representative of the community’s complex and intense identity. We have completed thirty two murals and are planning to paint twenty five more in the Spring of 2012.

We are now asking for a $29,500 dollars through a donating platform called Kickstarter (www.kickstarter.com) in order to accomplish our goal to paint 25 more murals in April 2012. Our link is Puebla: mural city: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1880138146/puebla-mural-city

We have 36 days to reach our donation goal. The money will be transferred ONLY if the entire amount is reached, therefore we need your help in order to be able to continue with our project next year!

On december 18th, 2010 the Xanenetla barrio welcomed more than a houndred people excited to finally see some murals.

15 murales were created in december and now the barrio is being cosidered an important touristic point in Puebla.

But this ain’t over yet, we still have 38 more murals to do.

PUEBLA: CIUDAD MURAL
With the purpose of generating favorable conditions for the residents of the Xanenetla in Puebla, Mexico, dignify their houses facades and promote the expression of the Muralismo as a link tool between artists and residents of the community, the call for application for the PUEBLA: CIUDAD MURAL is official.

“Puebla: Ciudad Mural” looks for artists or designers to become Project Manager next to a Mexican artist/painter/designer and a resident of Xanenetla to work on a mural inspired by an anecdote, an urban legend or a relevant matter for the family owner of the house in which the team will be working. They will have meetings with the residents to define and plan the mural as well as worshops to complement the experience.

This is an opportunity for people with Mexican and Latin backgrounds who have never been to Latin America to come and experience what it is to live in Mexico for three weeks, while working in this project. It’s also a rewarding experience that will bring a better way of life to some needed families. The cost of this experience is $XXX US, but the learnings and experiences the participants will have are priceless.
